Every fifteen minutes someone in the US is killed in an alcohol related accident.
For the last couple of days my daughter has been in a representation at her high school of how horrific this is. She was a survivor in a simulated accident in which three of her classmates died at the scene and another died in the hospital.
All the students were fitted with prosthetic injuries and the rescue squad actually used the jaws of life to remove the 'victims' from the car. This simulation was so real the students were given red cards to hold up if any of the rescuing was causing an actual injury. Those killed at the scene were taken by the coroner while the survivors were transported to the hospital. Parents were notified by phone of the injuries or in person by the police if one of their children had died.
At the hospital doctors actually simulated trying to revive one of the critically injured, but unfortunately were unable to save her.
The student portraying the drunk driver was field sobriety tested and taken into custody by the city police.
Today at school the victims were eulogized and funeral arrangements were announced.
Very intense.
We do something like that here every two years with a fake plane involved in an accident.....Is far more intense and real, as it involves the airport, the airlines, firebrigades, security, the media and a bunch of actors from oversea. It's too damm real and stressfull, specially if you represent the head of a department....

not as hihg as 15 min , but we have a hihg rating of the same thign in Sweden. There is some sort of faction "Dont drink and Drive " or whatever they are called. I would say its should be common sense to most ppl that dont drive after they have been drinking but hey drinking knocks out your common sense.

alcohol is a HUGE problem...
my dad is a recovering alcoholic
and my roomate has two friends in jail over driving under the influence and another in rehab, this stuff can really grab a hold of a person

damn. they never did anything that intense when my sis and friends were in high school. all they did was have some dude dressed up as the grim reaper go around and touch random students, who would then go and paint their faces white and their lips blue and put on a black robe. they'd sit in class and be utterly silent, occasionally getting up and touching another student, who would join them.
kind of lame by comparison.
